Tribute to Vaheed Kaacemy

I was introduced to Vaheed Kaacemy in 2006 when Dr. Lorraine Sakata told
him about my Afghan Children’s Songbook Project. From the very beginning,
Vaheed was excited about the project and very generous and committed to
helping make the project a success. I have continued to be so thankful
that we met. Vaheed had the perfect skills, talent and background needed
for this work. He is a skilled musician. He cares deeply about the music
of Afghanistan , he has a great understanding of traditional music and
he believes that music should be for everyone, particularly the children.
He indeed should be honored for the contribution he has made to keeping
the music of Afghanistan alive for future generations. He is most
definitely a cultural treasure!
